Dr. Insoo Jun received PhD in Nuclear Engineering (in the field of Applied Plasma Physics and Fusion Technology) from UCLA in 1991. After spending nine years in academia and industry, he joined JPL’s Mission Environments Group in 2000 as a senior technical staff. He has been the group supervisor of the same group, renamed Natural Space Environments group, from 2004 to 2011 and from 2014 to 2020. He serves Co-Lead for JPL’s Center for Space Radiation and concurrently as the Section Chief Technologist and Deputy Technical Fellow for the NASA agency-wide Space Environment Technical Discipline Team (TDT). His main expertise is in the space radiation environments and effects on space systems and planetary bodies. He is currently leading many NASA-funded projects related to space radiation by performing researches on nuclear planetary science and space physics. Furthermore, he serves as science team members for the MSL, Europa, Psyche missions, and Artemis Gateway HERMES.

Professional Focus
Responsible for development of analytical methods for radionuclides such as α-, β-, γ- and X-ray emitting nuclides including pretreatment procedures, and application for radioactive samples. Development of chemical separation and detection methods for trace metal ions in solutions, especially for lanthanide and actinide ions based on kinetic approach by capillary electrophoresis and gel electrophoresis using absorbance or fluorescent probes.

Dr. Wadas received his Ph.D. in Chemistry under the direction of Richard Eisenberg, Ph.D. at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY.  He then pursued postdoctoral studies as a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Fellow under the direction of Carolyn Anderson, Ph.D. in the Department of Radiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Under her direction he evaluated 64Cu-radiopharmaceuticals for the PET imaging of neuroendocrine tumors and metastatic bone disease.  In 2011, he joined the faculty at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC as an Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology.  There his research focused on the development of 89Zr- and 225Ac-based radiopharmaceuticals for the imaging and therapy of cancer, respectively. In 2018, he gave the Plenary Lecture at the Korean Society of Radiopharmaceuticals and Molecular Probes Conference in Seoul, South Korea. In 2019, he joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Iowa where he continues his radiopharmaceutical research.  Currently, he serves as the Managing Director of the Small Animal Imaging Core Facility and Team Leader of the Production Unit at the University of Iowa’s Theranostics Laboratory. He serves as a PI or Co-I on several funded applications from the Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, Melanoma Research Alliance, and the National Institutes of Health.

Dr Kim obtained BS in Astronomy/Physics from Seoul National University in 1982, and a Master in Physics from KAIST/Korea in 1984. He was awarded a PhD in Biophysics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, USA, 1992, followed by spending two years at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Cornell Medical School, New York as a Fellow. Prof Jong-Ki Kim is based at Catholic University of Daegu, School of Medicine, Biomedical Engineering and Radiology, Daegu City, Korea, as chairman of biomedical engineering since 1995. In 2012-13, he was visiting professor at UC Berkeley, Bioengineering department. Current research interests of his laboratory are nanomedicine including drug delivery using nanostructured materials, high-Z nanoradiator ion stimulation therapy in neurodegenerative diseases (AD, PD), atherothrombotic diseases and refractory cancer including malignant glioma. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction transcranial brain imaging is also under developing with collaborating with Japanese scientists. Dr. Kim is inventor of Ion beam Stimulation therapy for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular vulnerable plaque. He is serving as executive committee in Korean Photodynamic Association, KOMAC (proton) and RAON (heavy ion).
